NEWS AND EVENTS

Gender-focused education and interactive methods of teaching were the main topics discussed during the training for Amurskaya oblast methodologists and educators on 19-23 March, 2007.

Znaniye trainers Larissa Fokina and Tamara Seliverstova elaborated on the importance of providing equal educational opportunities for boys and girls. Those teens who start sharing the idea of men's and women's equal opportunities in any sphere of human activities consciously choose  non-violent  behaviors and thus prevent the occurrence of some negative outcomes of gender stereotypes in their lives.
The participants also learned new innovative methods of conducting various class and out-of-class activities. As a result, they devloped pilot projects on gender-based education which they plan to implement during the next school year.

As a follow-up activity, the trainers plan to bring educators and methodologists together to share their experiences and difficulties in talking about gender issues with their students. Znaniye also plans to conduct a conference later this year on the issues of domestic violence, human trafficking and gender issues for teachers and parents.
